Polar Sapphire

Polar Performance Materials is a green economy enabler, operating a commercial scale facility producing ultra-high purity alumina (Al2O3).  Alumina is a critical input for certain markets, including LEDs and lithium ion batteries.  Scott Nichol, founder and CEO, has taken a process perfected at his previous company, 6N Silicon (a producer of high purity silicon), and successfully applied this same approach to raw aluminum.  Polar has a zero-emissions process compared with the incumbent process, which is highly toxic to local environments. Polar currently operations a commercial facility in Southern Ontario.
